A useful distinction for company owners
The Registrar abolished the €350 annual company fee from 2024 onwards. There is therefore no levy for the 2026 year under that former annual fee requirement. The change dates from 2024 and should be distinguished from a new 2026 measure. Fees outstanding for 2011 to 2023 remain payable.
Annual returns remain a separate obligation
Companies must still attend to their annual returns and the applicable financial statement filing requirements. The annual return to the Registrar, the corporate income tax return and beneficial ownership confirmation are separate compliance tasks. Completing one should not be treated as evidence that the others have been completed.
Check the company specific filing date
The Registrar provides guidance and an annual return date calculator. Do not assume every company has the same annual return deadline. For annual returns with reference dates from 2021 onwards, current guidance provides a late filing charge of €50 initially and €1 for each further day, capped at €150.
A practical approach for overseas groups
Maintain a calendar for each Cyprus entity, naming the person responsible for every filing and the information needed from the owners. Before submission, check the company particulars against the corporate records and resolve inconsistencies. After submission, retain the filing receipt and follow up on any outstanding documents.
